For Buyers
Remote Buyer Boat Inspection
Buying from out of town? We provide a captain-led walkthrough with clear photos, video, and notes to help you decide whether a boat is worth the trip, offer, and survey.
What This Is (and Isn’t)
This is a practical, documented remote walkthrough designed to help buyers screen a boat before spending time and money traveling. It is not a substitute for a full marine survey, haul-out, sea trial, or mechanical compression testing. If you’re serious about purchasing, we strongly recommend hiring a qualified marine surveyor.
What’s Included
- Photo & video coverage: hull/topsides, deck, cockpit, hardware, rig (sailboats), engine room access (as available)
- Dockside functional checks: shore power status, battery voltage indication (where accessible), bilge condition
- Interior walkthrough: signs of leaks, mildew, odors, pests, soft spots, obvious damage
- Systems spot checks: basic power-on checks for key electronics where safe/available
- Buyer-focused notes: what looks solid, what looks concerning, and what questions to ask the seller
- Summary report: clear “green / yellow / red flags” with next-step recommendations
Add-Ons (Common Requests)
- Cold-start video (if seller grants access and conditions allow)
- Moisture/soft-deck spot checks (non-invasive)
- Documentation review checklist (maintenance records, prior surveys, receipts)
- Coordination with your surveyor or mechanic once you’re ready for next steps
How It Works
- You send the listing link, boat location, and what you want us to focus on.
- We confirm access with the seller/broker/marina and schedule a visit.
- We perform the walkthrough and capture photos/videos and key notes.
- You receive a clear report so you can decide: pass, negotiate, or proceed to survey/sea trial.
FAQs
Is this the same as a marine survey?
No. A survey is a separate professional inspection (often including valuation) used for purchase and insurance decisions.
Our remote inspection helps you screen and document condition before you invest in travel and a formal survey.
Can you do a sea trial?
Sea trials typically require specific permissions, conditions, and may require additional licensed operators and insurance arrangements.
If you need this, contact us and we’ll discuss options and coordination.
What do you need from me?
A listing link (or boat details), location/marina, seller/broker contact, and the top 5 things you want us to verify.
What do I receive?
A digital report with photos, key observations, and practical next steps (including what to ask a surveyor to focus on).
What areas do you cover?
Clear Lake, Kemah, Galveston Bay, and nearby Gulf Coast marinas.
