One-Time Boat Welfare Check

Haven’t been to the dock in a while? Before a trip, after heavy rain, before listing the boat for sale, or just for peace of mind—get a documented safety check with photos.

What’s Included

A welfare check is a thorough dockside safety inspection focused on the highest-risk items for unattended boats.

  • Bilge: water level, pump operation, alarms (if installed), obvious sources of ingress
  • Shore power: connected/secure, visible heat risk, breakers status (where accessible)
  • Batteries: basic voltage indication (where accessible), charger status cues
  • Dockside security: lines, chafe points, cleats, spring lines, fender placement
  • Visual scan: hull/topsides above waterline, deck hazards, canvas/closures condition
  • Quick cabin check: leaks, odors, mildew, pests (as access allows)
  • Report: time-stamped notes + clear photos and “needs attention” items

Common Reasons Owners Request a Welfare Check

  • Before arriving in town (so the boat is safe and ready)
  • After heavy rain or suspected bilge issues
  • Before/after a storm (or when a neighbor reports a concern)
  • Before listing for sale or handing the boat to a broker
  • When insurance documentation is needed

Optional Add-Ons

  • Generator/engine start attempt (only with explicit authorization and safe conditions)
  • AC/heat and water system spot checks (where applicable)
  • Contractor/yard check-in and photo documentation

FAQs

Is this a membership?
No—this is a one-time service. If you want ongoing coverage with repeat visits and trend reporting, see Memberships.

Do you need keys?
Sometimes. Many checks can be performed dockside with limited access, but interior/bilge access may require keys or marina authorization. We’ll discuss the safest access method during scheduling.

What if you find something urgent?
We’ll contact you promptly with photos and options. If immediate action is needed, we can help coordinate with marina staff or your preferred service provider.

Can you check my neighbor’s boat too?
Only with the owner’s permission. If you have multiple boats (or a group at the same marina), we can quote a multi-boat visit.
